I went to Glenwood Springs, CO almost 10 years ago in october and still remember it - esp. the yampah caves. i was only there at the hostel for a few days while i traveled cross country, and missed it ever since.
so i am finally going back july 13 - 17 :-) and i definitely remember going here www.hotspringspool.com/pool.html , which was nice, but i would also like something more natural. and also cool spots to swim, since it is summer.
so i was wondering if anyone happened to know any other hot springs, or good swimming holes that are perhaps off the beaten path around there? or actually, anything to do cool around there..

On to Colorado River itself, near the springs are a few homeade hot pools and you can cool off in the river. One is down by the tracks. At night it can be a bit rough or so say some folks, since train-riding hobos use 'em.
Also close by, on the road to Carbondale, off 82, past Carbondale is a great natural hotspring that's kept up by the locals. Sometimes it gets disassembled. Ask around town. -

Wed, July 12, 2006 - 2:38 PMthanks! i poked around on the internet and found one called "South Canyon" that seems relatively easy to get to so I think we are going to try that one. these are the directions:
South Canyon Hot Springs: On I-70 travel 5 miles west of Glenwood Springs and take exit 111. Take a left off the exit, cross the Colorado River and continue .5 mile to a small turnout on your right. No sign indicates the spring's location, but a footpath leads to the creek and back up the hill 300 yards to the hillside pool
