Hi everyone. I'm heading to the Olympic National Forest and would like to hit Olympic h.s. Has anyone been there this time of year? or recently? I'm curious as to what the trail conditions are and how far up the road the baricade is. Also we're going to go to Seattle for a couple days. Can't wait for the new adventure that awaits!

Re: Olympic Hot Springs
Fri, March 24, 2006 - 10:41 PMLatest (as of the 18th on NWHotSprings), the road was gated at the dam resulting in a seven mile hike into the springs.
The parks service (as of Mar 11th) reports up to 8" snow at the springs and suggests you call for current road and trail conditions:
(360) 565-3131 for road information and (360) 565-3100 for trail information.
Update us if you get new info

The road is in good shape and open to the trailhead. The trail was fine, but was snow/ice covered from halfway up. The actual area has about a foot of snow where the trees, runoff, and hot water have left any. That includes on the last bridge over boulder creek so the hand rail is now about knee level.
The next to last pool has had some of the slope fal into it away from the hottest part. It's still nice, just not so large.
