Hi all!
I'm new to this tribe. Happy to find fellow soakers. Last year after the burn my hubby and I went to Valley View Hot Springs in So. Colorado. It was awesome! A sacred place. There were both developed and undeveloped springs and pools, and a wonderful sauna. Everything was clothing optional. There are rooms to rent, and camping.
While we were there last year we heard about 2 other hot springs in the same general area: Buena Vista, and Princeston. I was wondering if anyone in this tribe could give me some info I couldn't find on their websites. Are either of them clothing optional? Is there camping for a 40 foot bus? I'd appreciate any info you may have about these two hot springs.
Thanks!
Luscious

Re: Buena Vista and Mt. Princeston in CO
Fri, July 20, 2007 - 1:56 PMi've been to mt. princeton a number of times, never to cottonwood. i know that mt. princeton is bathing suit mandatory, and i'm pretty sure that cottonwood is the same. we go to dakota hot springs, down hwy 50 toward pueblo. it's a clothing optional facility. kind of run down, but the water is good. -

Sat, September 1, 2007 - 8:30 PMHey Dennis ... where's Dakota? I assume it's somewhere between Salida and Canon City. Didn't know there was anything along that stretch of 50 .. -

Thu, September 27, 2007 - 8:19 PMDennis:
Is Dakota a re-named Brush HS or Desert Reef Beach Club? I tried to get to one or the other of these a few years back but the road was more than I wanted to do in the rental car. -

Re: Buena Vista and Mt. Princeston in CO
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 6:31 AMdakota used to be the well. desert reef is a different place. we've never been there, although i've heard it's nicely kept up. we have a membership at dakota, so soaking is very reasonable and much closer to home. -

Re: Buena Vista and Mt. Princeston in CO
Sat, September 1, 2007 - 8:28 PMI've been to Cottonwood in the last couple of years, but not Princeton. These days suits are required (not surprising;y, since you can see the main pool from the road). Used to be that things were optional after dark. I'd call and see whats going on.
The lot is big enough for a 40-footer, but as to camping there, I don't know. You might be able to do a National Forest campground nearby -

Re: Buena Vista and Mt. Princeston in CO
Thu, September 27, 2007 - 10:13 PMWe already went on our trip this year, post Burning Man. We wento Valley View again, for 2 nights this time, and it was awesome again! We went on a 1 3/4 mile hike to a bat cave on their property, that was cool! Then we went to Orvis Hot Springs, near Ridgway and Ouray. It was nice, but small and totally developed. We didn't like the situation nearly as much- it was much closer to the road, but had a fence so still was clothing optional. What we did like was the water itself; it's lithium water, and feels and smells wonderful. Your skin is soft when you get out! We skipped Buena Vista and Prinston after learing that they're both textile compulsive. -

They aren't epidermis phobic, just the epidermis covering areas that they're phobic about.
