Mon, May 14, 2007 - 2:39 PMI'm not sure I buy that. They aren't going to tow someones only way out of a desert and strand people 40 miles from water and shelter. That is just begging for a negligent homicide charge. Sounds to me like someone is simply trying to discourage people from going there. -

I really can't figure out what the Government is trying to pull. They used to have a very nice, and expensive, setup at the lower trailhead. High water and a clogged pipe washed out the bridge. Originally, they said they would replace the bridge as soon as an endangered fish in the stream stopped its mating season. But that was years ago, and there are no repairs in sight.
Now it makes sense to block off the entrance to the trailhead parking; that's where the bridge is out. But why make parking a half mile above and below off limits?
