Re: springs off 395
Wed, August 1, 2007 - 3:59 PMIf you are going to stay near Bridgeport I highly suggest both Travertine and Buckeye hot springs. Buckeye has an amazing setting and I have had it all to myself quite a few times. There is also some decent camping near Buckeye but it is developed and costs $ to stay there. I am pretty sure there is some primitive camping up the road from Buckeye. If you are coming up the 395 from the south you have a lot of springs to choose from on the way up. Before you get to Bishop there is Keough's Hot (its only warm now) Ditch right off the road and is a great spot to wash of the road grime. After you get up near Lake Crowley there are many different springs to choose from, The Tub, Hilltop, Wild Willies, The Crab Cooker, Shephard's Hot Spring a.k.a Lone Tree Hot Spring, and Little Hot Creek are the best ones. If you have the time Little Hot Creek is really neat, the source is almost boiling and if the last person left the valve on the pool can be very very hot. If you need any directions let me know and I'll see what I can remember.
