Hi Lark. The one I go to is Deep Creek. It's about 2 1/2 hours from LA. Free. A short hike to get back to it.

It's wonderful there. If you need directions or more info, send me a message and I'll reply with the info you seek.

    Take care and have fun.

Deep Creek is the spot. The hot springs here are free,... I wouldnt call it rustic, but definately natural. Its about 2 miles to hike from Bowen Ranch, and 1 mile hike if you drive farther down the dirt road. Past Bowen Ranch you may need high ground clearence and someone to guide you for the first time.

Has anyone been within the last couple of weeks? I was wondering how quickly the stream is flowing.

If you're willing to backpack, there's Sespe and Willett Hot Springs in the Las Padres National Forest. Both are natural and fairly private since it takes some hiking to get there.

I'm the moderator of the Backpacking and So. Cal. Hiking Tribes and I try to schedule at least one springtime trip every year to Willett or Sespe. Join one or both of those tribes if you would like to go with us.

Hey Widget, how far of a hike is it to those hotsprings in the Las Padres forest?

Do you do any hiking/camping in Yosemite?

Apparently there is one in OC off of the 94 I believe, I will have to double check this. A friend of mine went a few months back, she said it is shallow a nice temperture and quite. I believe it is a sulphur type spring. If you are interested I can get some more info on it. I have wanted to check it myself. It is at the southern end of OC.

        Cheers~
