Hey there.
I haven't been to Deep Springs since 1998, so 10 years, but I really want to show my bf this wonderful place. We are thinking of heading out there next weekend, does anyone have any updates about the area? Fire damage? Is that cool guy there off the HWY 15 where you can park and hike down?
Deep Creek hot springs holds a special place in my heart, the more information you have, the better.

Sun, June 1, 2008 - 11:55 PMI went there this year. It's in good shape. You can park your car at Bowen's ranch for $5/day or $10 overnight camping. That's per person. there's a free place to park but you have to hike a lot farther and I don't know where it is. -

Supposedly, Deep Creek was the hideout for Charles Manson and his "family" when they were on the run after murdering Sharon Tate. Sounds like urban legend, but I heard it a long time ago (maybe 20 years), and haven't had anyone contradict. -

They hid out at Barker Ranch which is in DV and near to the Hot Springs in Saline Valley

Thu, June 5, 2008 - 5:47 PMThey used to spend time out in the Sespe hot springs as well. Some friends around town remember seeing him out there back when you could still drive to it. I think the road got closed in the 69 flood.
