Oh that's funny..."I occasionally woke up in the middle of the night thinking it was morning because of the coffee maker sounds"...Very nice, thanks for sharing.

I know - the author sounds like a cool guy...

I'm excited to a DIY hot tub in on 2 properties I have in the desert - the perfect thing for stargazing! I heard half the wells out there are hot wells, but in the meantime, I'll just use the coffeemaker! :)

thing is that coffee makers are pretty heavy electricity drains; we're talking about 900 watts there. If I made something like this i'd use propane and a heat exchanger made from copper tubing.

Hmmm...time to hit the drawing board...

Well, you could always try this:

          www.outdoorsportz.com/OGSHOOOO1008.html

it runs on exactly the system you desrcibe: propane source / heat exchanger -- they have different sizes; I got mine on ebay for burning man (but now maybe I'll use it for my kiddie pool hot tub - woo hoo!)

You are a great problem solver. You must be a sculpture artist.

Gee thanks -- h'm -- sculpture... I work more in video, sometimes print & collage... I just like to solve problems when I'm motivated... :)

Hey & I realized the DIY hot tub could have bubbles added by things like portable bath jets, bubble mats & so forth. I even found a cordless one --- mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I am so jazzed to set this up at my cabin - and so much bigger than the usual hot tub...

I figure, good pool with filter ($40), Zodi ($75) and bubbler ($25 - 50) makes a 10-foot wide hot tub for about $160 or less. All bought on craigslist or ebay...

And I'll bring a couple of $10 Napa chardonnay's I bought at the 99-cent store -- woo hoo! (whoever thought you could find better wine at half the price of 2-buck-Chuck?!)
